New 'Korra' Trailer, 'Feast' Reaction At The Annecy, & 'Big Hero 6' Posters

A new, fan-made trailer for Book 3 of Legend of Korra has surfaced on YouTube...and boy is it AWESOME.

It was reported last week on Hypable  that production on the new season had been completed, but for some mysterious reason Nickelodeon has been silent on a release date.  No official trailer has been released yet either, though I imagine we won't get one of those until Comic-Con.  Now, some of these new episodes were accidently leaked, and fans got a hold of them and have posted them on YouTube.  One fan in particular put together a trailer with some footage from these episodes, and like I said before, it's awesome.

There's so many great things in this trailer...the Earth Kingdom city of Ba Sing Se, a much older Zuko, dragons, the return of the Dai Li, more airbenders (how did that happen??), Sparky Sparky Boom Woman (she totally looks like she's related to Azula...her daughter, maybe?), and most interesting of all, some backstory on Lin Beifong and her relationship with her mother, Toph.  There's some really terrific stuff here, and I wonder if Nickelodeon's trailer will try to top it.

Disney premiered it's newest short, Feast, at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on Tuesday with huge success.  It made people laugh and cry, and many are comparing it to the amazing six minute love montage from Up.  Jerry Beck, author at Animation Scoop has gone so far to say that Feast surpasses the montage from Up.  Not only does it boast some wonderful, emotional storytelling but also uses a more advanced version of the same technology that was used on the short film Paperman.  Whereas Paperman was in black and white with just a little red, Feast will be completely in color.  I highly recommend checking out Animation Scoop's interview with director Patrick Osbourne, where he discusses the making of the short.

I'm so excited for this short film, and I'm glad to see Disney pushing the boundaries of technology once again.  Feast will debut in front of the next Disney film Big Hero 6, coming out this November.  Speaking of Big Hero 6, two new posters featuring the soft, huggable robot Baymax have been released to the Internet.  I can already tell that I'm going to absolutely love this character.

Looks like Disney is starting to ramp up anticipation for the new film in much the same way as they did for Frozen last year.  I wonder what interesting tidbits they'll release next?

  1. I always felt sorry for Azula, when she finally turned mad at the end of Avatar the Last Airbender. Or is it just me?

Also, I totally agree with you on the trailer. It might be fanmade, but it is awesome!

I also expect the animation for this season to be more consistent and better than Book 2. They actually had two different studios work on Book 2 and you can actually see the difference in the level of animation both studios had. Studio Mir came back in full for Book 3 and I am SO happy!

What do you think about the animation for book 2?
